Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry

Dental checkups, cleanings and at-home dental care are all designed to prevent and detect the early warning signs of disease and damage. However, even with exceptional dental care, teeth are susceptible to chipping, cracking and a variety of other concerns.

Restorative dentistry encompasses a range of treatments that can be used to repair and rebuild teeth. At Feels Like Family Dentistry, we provide a complete range of restorative treatments and procedures. Whether you notice a problem at home or we find a concern during your routine checkup, we offer treatments for:

  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Tooth decay
  • Bone loss
  • Discoloration
  • Gum disease

Form and Function

Damaged or misaligned teeth are often instantly noticeable and may prevent your smile from looking its best. Restorative dentistry can improve the look of your teeth and improve your overall appearance.

More importantly, dental disease and missing or damaged teeth can prevent you from eating, drinking or speaking well. Restorative dentistry can also repair the function of your teeth and mouth.

Types of Restorative Dentistry

There are many types of treatments and procedures that can improve the function and look of your teeth and mouth. The types of procedures available include:

  • Fillings – Among the most common dental procedures, fillings are used to treat cavities and reduce sensitivity. A tooth-colored substance fills the tooth to create a natural looking result.
  • Crowns – A permanent cap is placed over an existing tooth. A cap may be used to protect a weak or fractured tooth, cover a tooth that has had a root canal or to improve the appearance of a discolored or misaligned tooth.
  • Bridges – When one or more teeth need to be replaced, a bridge may be used. Artificial teeth are anchored with crowns covering the natural teeth on either side.
  • Implants – When a single tooth needs to be replaced, an implant may be created. A metal screw is placed into the jawbone and a crown attached to the top.

Everyone I encountered was cordial and professional. To say that the examination was thorough would be an understatement.
